Condition	Condition is outstanding with little to no gesso or paint loss to any of these beautiful tiles. The wood on which these are painted is good tight no warp and as nice as they were 60 70 years ago. No damage staining or issues.

This is an Estate Fresh old Hand Painted Wooden Ceiling Tile from the mid 1950's. This listing is for 1 (one) tile. You may buy up to 15 for now anyway at this price per each, plus the combined delivery should you wish more than one. These tiles were made by the Rung Yang Palace Arts and Painting Co, the company responsible for the interior of the famous Chilin Pavilion in Taipei Taiwan. These " Palace " art or " Palace Art " Tiles are beautifully painted with intricate old world design and style and each is hand made by the company's artisans. The tiles are each 17 7/8" square and can be hung on a wall or actually still used to be inset into a ceiling. Just really unusual and these are really old stock, at least 50 years old or older. The parents of this estate had bought them and the man was going to install them into his home, but just never got it done. There is still old Chinese newspapers still dividing the tiles for protection from damage. Super cool!

From an article in Taiwan Today they did a story of how the Chilin Pavilion was made and how they contracted the same company that made my tiles to do the work. Now Known today as "palace" style, traditional Chinese decor features ornate woodwork, colorful relief moldings, and intricately executed dragon and phoenix motifs. Typical are the painted ceiling panels is one of the most impressive aspects of creation. "The latest important example of "palace" artwork to appear in Taipei is the Chilin Pavilion of the Grand Hotel. Its exterior (left) also contains such traditional aspects as curved eaves, tiled roof, and painted cornices. The interiors of the Chilin Pavilion are the work of the Rung Yang Palace Arts Co. and the inspiration of its manager and chief artist, Cheng Wei-shien. "
